Bourke Cemetery, Gorrell Ave
Bourke , NSW 2840 Australia

The first burials in Bourke occurred in 1862 and you will notice many epitaphs saying ‘perished in the bush’. While the cemetery was not dedicated until 1879 records and headstones indicate that there were burials in the Bourke cemetery much earlier than this. The Bourke cemetery is filled with early Australian history and the internationally renowned eye surgeon, Professor Fred Hollows is also buried here.
