SUMMARY:Poets Trek
DESCRIPTION:The Poets Trek – heading off on an intrepid journey of writing and discovery through the story-rich landscape around Bourke with writers\, musicians and poets in tow. \nIn 2016 the Poets Trek will travel to Brewarrina where we will stay overnight at the newly established Beds on the Barwon. \nFeatures of this years trek will include visits to Mount Oxley\, the telling of the Sturts journey along the Bogan River\, The Brewarrina Fish Traps\, Cultural Museum\, Campfire tales before returning to Bourke via Byrock. \nThe Trek will be led by Paul Roe. Artists along for the Trek include Andrew Hull\, The Roweths\, Graeme Gibson and Frank Povah. \nThe 2016 Poets Trek will depart at 8:30am on the 7th of September from the Bourke Wharf. \nThe Trek will explore the story of Charles Sturt and his first visit to the area\, discover more about the rich heritage of the Cobb and Co and learn on location about the stories and lives of Poets such as Ogilvie\, Morant\, Lawson and Davis. \nFor the first time the Trek will introduce the story of Oscar Hughan who wrote for the early Bourke paper in the 1860’s. \nNumbers are limited for the 2016 Trek so if you would like to come along please book as early as possible.
