Departing on the 2nd of September the Poets Trek will follow the footsteps of renowned poets such as Henry Lawson, Will Ogilvie and Breaker Morant.

Experience the classic stories and poems written in the hey-day of the Bulletin, read ‘on location’ in the bush pubs, woolsheds and bush tracks that inspired them. Meet the locals and enjoy bush hospitality and great Outback scenery at the Back O’ Bourke

Wednesday 2nd September 2015:

  • Muster at the Bourke Wharf and tour the literary history of Bourke
  • Call in to the Western Herald and hear the latest news from 1890
  • Follow the Western side of the river to Toorale National Park
  • Continue on to the Old Dunlop Shed
  • Afternoon sun at the Mary Mathews Monument, Louth
  • Enjoy the performance of the Firestone recordings and others in the company of locals at Shindy’s Inn

Thursday 3rd of September 2015:

  • Poets Breakfast at Shindy’s
  • Visit to the Darling one more time
  • Travel to Gundabooka National Park and the ancient stories
  • Lunch on the bush track
  • Arrive in Bourke for stories at the old Bourke cemetery

Cost of $330 includes meals, transport and accommodation.
